All the Doctors, with the exception of Dr Kinder and Dr Fiona Crooker , do surgeries at the Health Centre and at the Branch Surgery at Sidford. You can choose which of these places you would prefer to attend and we will keep your medical records there. It is important that you try to attend where your medical records are held.
The practice offers medical services for all registered and temporary patients in the Sid Valley. All patients will be offered a Health assessment by the Nurse, so please book this as soon as possible
1. ROUTINE APPOINTMENTS
You can make a routine appointment by calling at the reception desk or telephoning the receptionist (telephone numbers: Health Centre 512601. Branch Surgery 512786) between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 pm. from Monday to Friday.
2. URGENT APPOINTMENTS
If you need an urgent appointment, you can always be seen on the same day, but not always by your own Doctor. You should contact the Health Centre or the Branch Surgery and tell the receptionist that you need an URGENT appointment. She will tell you when to come to the surgery.
4. WEEKEND COVER
The Health Centre no longer provides weekend cover directly as this has been passed over to Devon Doctors Co-operative. The Out of Hours service has a large pool of GP's from the surrounding practices including Sidmouth GP's who provide medical cover. The service is based at Honiton Hospital where there is fully staffed Minor Injuries unit. There is a mobile visiting GP who is driven in a fully equipped vehicle who is available to visit those that are physical unable to attend the unit. This includes the terminally ill, and frail and elderly. Patients with injuries, minor illness's and children are all expected to attend the Hospital for treatment.
5. TELEPHONE
It is usually possible to speak to your own Doctor on the telephone if you need to.
Please contact the receptionist who will let you know the best time to telephone. On occasions when the Doctor is busy we will ask the Doctor to call you back, with the exception of long distant calls and mobile phones.
6. HOME VISITS
If you are too ill to come to the surgery, a home visit can be arranged by telephone. Please telephone before 10.30 am so that the Doctor can plan his round before leaving the surgery. However, if you need an urgent visit, you can telephone straight away. Explaining exactly what is wrong to the receptionist will help the Doctor to see the most urgent cases first.
WHEN THE SURGERY IS CLOSED
The Sidford Branch Surgery is closed from 5.00 pm each evening, at lunchtime from 1.00 - 2.00 pm, Tuesday from 1.00 pm and at weekends. If you need a Doctor urgently at these times, telephone Sidmouth 512601.

The co-operative covers the practice between 23.30 -07.00 and on weekends from Friday 19.00 to 07.00 on the following Monday morning.

Emergency house calls will be undertaken only when there is a medical need to see a patient at home, otherwise you will be directed to attend a fully equipped Treatment Centre.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS. These are managed by our prescribing team.
If you need regular prescriptions and your Doctor does not need to see you every time, you will be given a repeat prescription form. When you need more medicines you may bring the form to the Receptionist or Chemist of your choice, having marked on the form which medicines you need. You can then collect the prescription either from the Surgery or the Chemist, allowing at least three working days for processing. If you leave or send a stamped addressed envelope, we will be happy to post your form and prescription. To avoid mistakes we regret we cannot accept tele-phone requests.
If you would like your Repeats by E-mail please see the
E-Scripts page
Please ONLY order the medications you require and avoid ticking the whole list as any dispensed medicine cannot be re-used by the Pharmacist.
